IntroductionExplore the famous islands of the Venice lagoon - Murano, Burano and Torcello - on a half-day excursion. You'll see a glass-blowing display on Murano, shop for lace on Burano and visit Venice's first church on the tranquil island of Torcello. This morning or afternoon tour is a great introduction to the magical islands of the Venetian lagoon. Boarding a comfortable motor boat, you'll speed along the Venetian lagoon to Murano, famous for its glassware. During the visit you'll explore shops, factories and watch the skilled glass-blowers as they create works of art. You'll also have time to visit a museum showcasing the world-famous Murano glass.
Re-board your motor boat you'll journey to the island of Burano to admire picturesque fishermen's houses painted in bright pastel colors, and, of course, the famous lace. You can visit a museum dedicated to the craft of lace, and purchase the beautiful lace at local shops.
The last island stop is Torcello, the earliest center of civilization in the Venetian lagoon. You'll see the cathedral of Santa Maria Assunta, founded in the 7th century, and the excavated remains of the circular baptistery in the church of Santa Fosca. Efficient, no problems and easy to access . Enjoyed the tour very much. 2012-01-15 Helen A , Thick fog on the day but despite this it was a great experience, especially loved Burano. Needed more time to see Murano but don' miss this trip 2012-01-12 Angela F , Fantastic, We thoroughly enjoyed the experience. 2012-01-08 J. Michael E , Murano is a sales pitch - but cool to see the glass makers in action. (tell them to smile) Wish we had more time to check out other shops though. Torcello is quaint and purdy. Burano is also a sales pitch - but also purdy and a bit of time to wander. Thanks Viator! 2011-12-10 Jeffrey W , USA worth seeing the other sites of venice 2011-11-30 Mikepangs , This was an excellent value tour, with the boat rides included to and from the three islands. It was a little tough navigating to the Alillaguna (spelling?) docks, on south side of San Marco, but we found it. Our Nov 21st trip was in dense fog, but still enjoyable. Guide clearly provides times for reconvening at each stop. The glass blowing factory tour in Murano is quick, but adequate. Not too much pressure to buy things in the sales area, but might depend on number of people in group (Our group had 60+ persons). Stop at Torcello was also interesting, though it is quite a walk (1-/2 mile) to the church site, then again back. This leaves very little time for looking around. Scenic site, though. Final stop was in Burano, though at this time of year the darkness was already setting in. Guide turns the group loose in the town square and you are free to explore this colorful town on your own. Whole center of town can be traversed through the center, if desired, as it is only about 1/2 mile wide. Return boat ride to Venice seems rather long, especially in the dark. Guides didnt really expect tips due to the large group of persons on this large boat. Well worth the money if you have 4 hours and wish to see some other less crowded sites. Even in the fog. 2011-11-29 Rand K B , Great glass blowing demo, but it was a little crowded. Altogether very enjoyable. 2011-11-27 Richard Lee A , Great tour, very informative guide. Would recommend! 2011-11-17 Adam C , Excellent but time spent on islands could have been longer 2011-11-15 Nicholas M , United Kingdom
