The tour begins from the Esquilino Square and heads to the Vatican Museums, the most important ancient art collection in the world - 7 Km of hallways, 1,400 rooms with 65,000 works of art.

The Sistine Chapel, painted by Michelangelo, Botticelli, Signorelli, Rosselli, Ghirlandaio, Pinturicchio and Perugino.

The galleries of the Candelabra with fresco paintings and statues; tapestries with Flemish and Italian examples and the historical maps painted by Danti in the XV c.; Bernini’s Royal Staircase that leads to the Basilica of Saint Peter.

The basilica was rebuilt in the XVI and XVII c. and covers a surface of over 22.000 sqm, about 66,000 square feet, with a dome of 14,000 tons in weight. The interior of the basilica is decorated with thousands of gilt tesserae, prized marbles, Byzantine and baroque mosaics, the renowned Pieta by Michelangelo and the Tomb of Saint Peter. After the tour you will enjoy a lunch in a typical restaurant.

The Catacombs of Ancient Rome

Visits to the Christian Rome Basilica of St. John's in Lateran (visit), The Holy Stairs (visit), Appian Way, The Dominius Quo Vadis Chapel, the Catacombs (visit), a nice walk along the Via Appia Antica to the monument of Cecilia Metella - Thermes of Caracalla. (On sundays and bank holidays, the Via Appia Antica will be replaced by a visit of St. Mary the Major.)
